The Tanzania Investment Summit 2026 brought together government institutions, project promoters, development partners, financiers and around 35 investors from across the world to explore how Tanzania can turn promising opportunities into investments that support inclusive growth.
Aligned with the Tanzania Development Vision 2050 and Zanzibar Development Vision 2050, the Summit focused on sectors critical to the country’s transformation, including energy, water, transport, tourism, the blue economy, agriculture and agro-industrialisation. Discussions highlighted Tanzania’s strong pipeline of investment opportunities, while also pointing to a key challenge: many projects need stronger preparation, clearer revenue models and appropriate financing structures to attract capital.
Through panel discussions, sector dialogues and deal rooms, participants explored how blended finance, guarantees, concessional capital, project preparation support and public-private partnerships can help reduce risk and unlock investment.
A key milestone was the launch of the Tanzania Investment Growth Facility (TIGF), established by UNDP and the Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF). The facility is designed to help promising projects move from concept to financing by strengthening project preparation and connecting project developers with potential investors and financing partners.
Beyond the discussions, the Summit provided a platform for project promoters to engage directly with investors and financing partners, helping lay the groundwork for investments across key sectors.
By helping move projects from concept to capital, the Tanzania Investment Summit 2026 contributed to efforts to advance SDG 8 on decent work and economic growth, SDG 9 on industry, innovation and infrastructure, SDG 13 on climate action and SDG 17 on partnerships.
