About the event
The #ForgeYourFuture initiative is a storytelling campaign aiming at collecting real-life stories, dreams, ideas and initiatives from young people in the world’s 46 Least Developed Countries (Tanzania included). From the young storytellers that engage with the hashtag #ForgeYourFuture. The High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States of the United Nations will select 46 young people (one from each LDC) to come to Doha, Qatar, and take part in the youth programme of LDC5 - the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries – taking place in January 2022.
This is a great opportunity for young people aged between 18 to 29 years in the world’s most vulnerable countries to take part in a historical process, shaping the decisions that will have an impact in their future. At LDC5, world leaders will adopt the next decade’s action plan to ensure the Least Developed Countries are not left behind in the race to achieve the Sustainable Developing Goals.
The best young storytellers and activists identified through the campaign will invited by United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS) to join us at LDC5 in Doha, with expenses covered by us (UN-OHRLLS).

WHAT?
The United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS) is bringing young people from each of the world’s 46 Least Developed Countries to a historical event that will shape the next decade of action!
WHO?
The campaign is directed to young people from the 46 Least Developed Countries, between the ages of 18 and 29. OHRLLS will identify the best storytellers and invite them to join, all expenses paid, the LDC5 Conference in Doha.
WHEN?
The campaign was launched on 9th November 2021 at 12:00 PM
The deadline for young people to engage is 22nd November 2021.
The campaign will continue to engage young people until the end of LDC5 on 27 January 2022.
HOW?
Young people are asked to tag UN-OHRLLS and to tag/use the hashtag #ForgeYourFuture, engaging with the posts promoted and sharing various multimedia products (photos, videos, audio, songs, poems and poetry, memes, whatever they like to use to express themselves) telling their stories and sharing ideas.
WHY?
At LDC5, world leaders will come together to adopt a new plan of action for the Least Developed Countries. This plan will guide them in achieving Sustainable Development by 2030 making sure the most vulnerable countries are not left behind in this race.
As the world keeps changing, new and unprecedented emergencies are stopping billions of young people from achieving their full potential. Young people in the most vulnerable countries have the most to lose from these emergencies. However, they also have the most to gain when action is taken! LDC5 will be where world leaders will come together to shape a new action plan to achieve a better, more sustainable future for all. No one excluded. This decision will have an impact on the lives of millions of young people and it is your right to have a say and forge it!
