IFAD Workshop in Arusha Boosts Stakeholder Engagement in Food Systems Agenda
Arusha, May 2025 — IFAD hosted a two-day workshop bringing together stakeholders from across the Agriculture and Fisheries Development Programme (AFDP) and the Climate Smart Dairy Transformation Programme (CSDTP). The sessions focused on aligning programme implementation with Tanzania’s national Food Systems Pathways.
Key outcomes included improved stakeholder awareness, deeper ownership of the transformation agenda, and agreement on steps to enhance coordination, embed food systems in national policies, and build partnerships across sectors.
“The transformation of food systems is not just a reform; it is the key to achieving sustainable development and national priorities,” said Mr. Sakphouseth Meng, IFAD Country Director in Tanzania. “It requires bold actions, shared responsibilities, and strategic investments from all sectors of society.”
This workshop was part of the Joint Programme on Advancing Sustainable Food Systems, made possible by seed funding from the Joint SDG Fund. The Joint Programme is generously supported by the European Union and the governments of Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
