Tanzania is enhancing its coordination and gender mainstreaming mandate working through the development of the first UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). In this initiative, UN Women is providing support across the UN System to mainstream gender into the process. To date, UN Women has collaborated with UNDP to plan and host a series of stakeholder consultations on the Common Country Analysis (CCA) Draft, which will underpin the new UNSDCF.
Through this role, UN Women ensured that gender was clearly incorporated into each consultation, as well as hosting separate consultations on the rights of women and girls and groups most at risk of being left behind. We held discussions to include contributions from allies in the women’s rights organisations. UN Women continues to coordinate agency representatives of the Gender Coordination Mechanism to engage strategically in the development of the CCA, and in the ongoing development of strategic priorities for the UNSDCF. This includes drawing on the UNCT-SWAP Gender Scorecard as an advocacy tool to support gender mainstreaming across the process.
