UN Day 2019

The United Nations in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation and the Dodoma Regional Commissioner’s Office commemorated the 74th Anniversary of the Establishment of the United Nations in Dodoma on October 24th, 2019. This year’s theme was: ‘Women and Girls at the Forefront of Achieving the Global Goals’.

The day began with a Flag-Raising Ceremony in the morning at Nyerere Square and was followed by an evening reception at St. Gaspar Hotel – both events were graced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Palamagamba Kabudi.

In addition to the commemorations in Dodoma, there was also a UN Day Outreach Event in Zanzibar, that was graced by the Second Vice President of Zanzibar, Ambassador Seif Ali lddi. The outreach highlighted and reinforced the UN’s support to women and girls in Zanzibar!!
